Queen Camilla just revealed that there’s a new pet at the palace.
The Queen, 77, visited the Beaney House of Art & Knowledge in Canterbury on Feb. 25, 2025, where she shared for the first time that she welcomed a new dog to the royal family. While meeting guide dogs, Queen Camilla told a group, “I’ve just got a new puppy,” according to a video shared on X by royal reporter Rebecca English.
Sharing more details about the new addition, the royal said the pup was 8 weeks old and a rescue whose breed was “a bit of everything.”
Queen Camilla also revealed her unique name and its inspiration: “She’s called Moley. Looks just like a mole!”
English also shared in a follow-up post that Moley was born on Boxing Day, Dec. 26, and her mother is half Jack Russell Terrier while the father’s breed is unknown. Like Queen Camilla’s previous dogs Beth and Bluebell, Moley is a rescue from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, of which the royal is a patron.

The new pet comes just a few months after Queen Camilla’s rescue dog Beth died, being put down due to having an untreatable tumor. In November, the royal family announced the sad news via social media: “A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from @Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties or curled up by the fire.”
Beth — a Jack Russell Terrier that Camilla adopted in 2011 — held a special place in Camilla’s heart, even being included on her coronation dress. The Queen had likenesses of Beth and her other dog, Bluebell, embroidered near the trim of her gown by designer Bruce Oldfield.
Beth also joined Camilla on royal outings, with the pup once unveiling a plaque at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home — by grabbing hold of a sausage attached to the blue curtain with her mouth.

King Charles hinted that they were planning to add another pet to the royal household during an outing at the Royal Variety Performance in November. Speaking to hosts Amanda Holden and Alan Carr, the royal said, “We’re going to get a new one.”

The British royal family has a long association with dogs, with Queen Elizabeth being known for her love of corgis. After her father King George VI brought home a corgi named Dookie from a local kennel, the late monarch received a dog for her 18th birthday named Susan — who went on to be the matriarch of a long line of royal dogs.
Queen Elizabeth was even credited with inventing an entire breed: As the story goes, the “dorgi” was created when Princess Margaret’s dachshund Pipkin got a moment alone with one of the corgis.
When Queen Elizabeth died in September 2022, she was survived by two corgis: Sandy and Muick. The dogs were present as her body was brought to Windsor Castle to be buried.

Sandy and Muick went to live with the Queen’s son Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who provides updates on the dogs via social media.
Speaking to PEOPLE in 2023, Ferguson joked that looking after the U.K.’s most famous pets came with some stress.
“They are national icons, so every time they run chasing a squirrel, I panic,” the Duchess of York said. “But they’re total joys, and I always think that when they bark at nothing, and there’s no squirrels in sight, I believe it’s because the Queen is passing by.”
