When it comes to current members of the royal family emulating Princess Diana, your mind likely wanders to Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle. On Friday, however, Queen Camilla became the latest Windsor to channel the late style icon by carrying one of her signature handbags.
Camilla attended the Royal Ascot in a breezy tunic dress with geometric embroidery, a floral wide-brimmed hat, and white pumps. Notably, she accessorized with a Lady Dior handbag. The quilted top handle purse, known for its Cannage stitching, was named for the former Princess of Wales—who used to go by Lady Di.

Originally called the Chouchou or Princesse, the Lady Dior was designed by Gianfranco Ferré in 1994. Diana was gifted one by France’s then-first lady, Bernadette Chriac, in 1995, and after wearing it at multiple public engagements, Dior changed the handbag’s name again in 1996.
Currently, the same model retails for around $6,000, pending any customizations. The Queen also wore a luxe accessory at the Royal Ascot on Thursday, where she paired a blue-gray shift with a $161,000 diamond star brooch.

Featuring over 30 round-cut diamonds, nine of the stones are arranged in a floral pattern at the center. Camilla, like her stepdaughter-in-law Kate Middleton, has proven to be a fan of the re-wear, as she sported the same brooch at last year’s Royal Ascot.
This particular piece came from the collection of the late Queen Elizabeth II. According to Maxwell Stone of U.K. jeweler Steven Stone, she inherited the late-Victorian era diamond star brooch from Lady Jardine in 1981.

“The brooch’s maker remains unknown, as does the identity of Lady Jardine herself,” he said.
Of the diamond star brooch, “It’s clear that the late Queen was fond of the piece—she wore it regularly, including at high-profile events like holiday church services, Christmas broadcasts, and the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant,” Stone added.
