MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile County officials have released an update on efforts to adopt dogs from the Mobile County Animal Shelter.
This follows the shelter holding 32 dogs confiscated by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
Here is a release from the Mobile County Commission.
UPDATE:
Thank you for your assistance with our urgent plea for adoptions or fosters this week!!! We’ve made great progress.
- Dogs and puppies move into and out of the Mobile County Animal Shelter daily.
- Since Monday, Mobile County Animal Shelter has moved 39 dogs out of the shelter through rescue, adoption, or foster.
- We closed the week with about 50 adoptable dogs and puppies available.
- We still need public adoptions, rescue pulls, and foster homes.
- Thank you to our rescue partners, to those who’ve adopted some of our available dogs and puppies, and to those who’ve shared our plea.
- Many people have asked how they can help the 32 confiscated dogs. While MCAS doesn’t actively solicit donations, the Shelter won’t turn away dog toys, beds, and similar. Mobile County P.A.L.S. – Shelter, Donation, Dog Shelter, Non-Profit (mobilecountypals.com) can accept financial donations to help as well.
Please remember that the 32 MSCO-confiscated dogs are with Mobile County Animal Shelter until the legal hold ends, which could be a very long time. We’ll be tight on space for the duration. When you report on the MCSO case, please remind your audience that the 32 dogs are residents of MCAS until the case is resolved. Having this number of legal hold residents makes it imperative that the other, adoptable dogs and puppies move out of the Shelter as quickly as possible, so please help us with adoption stories as you’re able.
Thank you for your support.
