Portland woman attacked by 8 dogs, severely injured

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A Portland mother of two is fighting for her life after a random dog attack in North Portland.

Mytoka Petry was on a walk on N. Columbia Blvd when eight dogs randomly attacked her.

Portland Police say the attack unfolded at a homeless encampment to find what they call a ‘chaotic’ scene. Two other people tried intervening in the attack and they too, were injured. One was transported to the hospital with serious injuries while the other suffered minor injuries.

Julana Torres and Monica Estrada are Petry’s childhood friends who have known her for over 30 years. They say Petry lost an arm, an ear, and almost lost an eye.

A woman whose two dogs attacked and killed a young boy last December in northeast Portland is facing several felony charges.

“She had a lot of brain bleeds. She had to have skin grafts for her face,” says Estrada.

“When they have to re-bandage her it takes like nearly 4 hours because it’s head to toe with all the way down to her toes. There’s bite marks, there’s wounds all over her body,” says Torres.

Having undergone multiple surgeries, they say she is in constant pain and was recently able to communicate.

“She does know about the extent of her injuries now, and she took it like a champ,” says Estrada.

Petry is surrounded by her two daughters, ages 18 and 23. They say her daughters have not left her side.

“It’s hard to go through all of the memories that you have with this person and it’s hard for you to go about your own day because it’s all you can think about is how precious life is and how she’ll never be the same again,” says Torres.

Wednesday morning, members of the Clackamas County Water Rescue team responded to reports of a person drowning at Dodge Park near Sandy, Oregon.

Moving forward, her friends say they want to see someone be held accountable for the attack.

“Who is regulating that there are packs of dogs in a homeless camp on the side of the road who’s gonna be held accountable for that because this could’ve happened to anybody,” says Estrada.

The dogs are being held at Multnomah County Animal Services. PPB is investigating but has not made any arrests.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
