PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Portland dog owners could face fines for off-leash dogs under a new policy approved by city council.
Under the new policy, which was approved in late 2024, Portland Park Rangers can ticket dog owners who let their dog off of their leash outside of designated areas.

While rangers have been able to give tickets for off-leash dogs since 2013, the old policy required a warning first, making it difficult to enforce.
Portland Parks & Recreation says rangers will still have the option to give warnings to first-time offenders.
