PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland Sea Dogs are back in town, kicking off a six-game series against Reading starting Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. The homestand promises not only competitive baseball but also a lineup of engaging promotions for fans.
In celebration of Earth Day and Earth Week, the first 150 attendees at each game will receive a Fraser fir seedling to plant. The seedlings, which can eventually be used as Christmas trees, are part of the team’s effort to promote environmental awareness.
Wednesday night will feature “Keys to the Past,” with the team donning their original teal jerseys. Thursday offers another chance to snag a fir seedling, while Friday is “Flannel Night,” encouraging fans to wear flannel and enjoy country music and a lumberjack show.
Saturday’s game, starting at 1 p.m., is “Bark in the Park,” inviting fans to bring their dogs to the ballpark. The series wraps up on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start and “Halloween at the Park,” where fans are encouraged to wear costumes and participate in trick-or-treating.
The Sea Dogs are looking to break a four-game losing streak, having started the season strong at 7-2 before dropping their last four games, including a narrow 3-2 loss to Hartford on Sunday. Despite the recent setbacks, the team remains in second place in the Northeast Division with a record of seven wins and six losses.
