PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland Sea Dogs faced off against the Reading Fightin Phils in a doubleheader at Delta Dental Park, but the chilly evening ended in disappointment for the home team.
In the opener, the Sea Dogs fell 5-1. In the nightcap, Zach Ehrhard gave the Sea Dogs an early lead by stealing second after a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Miller followed with an opposite-field double to left, bringing Ehrhard home and putting the Sea Dogs up 1-0.
However, the Sea Dogs’ offense stalled, and the Fightin Phils mounted a comeback to win the second game 3-1, completing the sweep.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow night at Delta Dental Park.
