POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Pompano Beach man has been accused of animal cruelty following the discovery of ten dogs in a non-ventilated outdoor storage unit without food or water.
Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) deputies apprehended Cassius Ali Cooper at the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Center on Thursday where he was allegedly trying to reclaim the dogs he is accused of mistreating.
Deputies reported that on June 3, they responded to a report of animal abuse at an outside storage facility on 91 North East Ninth Street in Pompano Beach.
Upon arrival, investigators said they heard sounds of distress and discovered ten dogs confined in cages within a non-ventilated unit.
Deputies claimed that the cages were filthy, with a strong odor, and that the dogs had no food and minimal dirty water available.
