COLUMBUS, Ohio — A child is seriously injured after being attacked by two dogs in north Columbus Sunday afternoon, police say.
Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the 3500 block of Hiawatha Street, located in North Linden, shortly after 1 p.m. on a report of dogs attacking a young child.
Sgt. Joseph Albert said a boy under the age of 10 was transported to a local hospital by one of the responding officers in “extremely critical condition.”
Albert said one of the officers shot both of the dogs. One dog was fatally shot and the other was taken into possession by animal control.
He added that the dogs appeared to have been loose from a residence down the street and did not belong to the family of the young boy.
