Police rescue woman and dog after they were swept away by Pequonnock River

TRUMBULL, CT (WFSB) – Emergency crews rescued a woman and her dog after they were swept away by a river in Trumbull.

Police said they were called to the Pequonnock River around 10:15 a.m. on Monday.

“Trumbull police were advised that the woman was on the phone with her friend when her dog went into the river and got swept away,” police said. “She then went into the river attempting to rescue her dog.”

A number of officers, the Trumbull Center Fire Department, and Trumbull EMS personnel all responded to help with the rescue.

“Arriving officers heard the woman screaming for help, and quickly located her in the river near Twin Brooks Park,” police said. “The river was high and fast moving due to recent flooding conditions, but she was able to keep her head just above the water as she was holding on to the vegetation.”

A Trumbull officer was helped by an off-duty firefighter to pull the woman to safety.

They said the woman was evaluated by EMS but was not seriously hurt.

The dog was found safe downstream around Lindberg Drive as it was heard barking in the area. It was safely reunited with the woman.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
