Police officer attacked by loose dogs in Barstow, shots fired

A Barstow Police Department officer was recovering at a hospital after being attacked by a group of loose dogs on Wednesday afternoon.

The officer fired gunshots during the incident, but it was not immediately clear whether any of the animals were struck, according to the department.

The incident took place just before 12:45 p.m. in a residential neighborhood in the 300 block of North Third Avenue, as an officer was conducting follow-up investigation on a previous case, Barstow police said in a written statement.

“During the investigation, an officer was attacked by several loose dogs, including pit bulls,” the statement said. “The officer discharged his firearm in defense, and we are currently investigating the incident.”

Police said the officer was hospitalized with “several bites throughout his body.” An update on his condition was not available.

No further details were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
