Police: Memorial Day house fire kills 2 dogs, sends firefighter to the hospital in Plainview

Two dogs are dead and a firefighter was brought to the hospital after a fire broke out at a Plainview home Monday evening, according to police.

The Nassau County fire marshal says it happened around 7:50 p.m. at a home on Eileen Avenue.

Officials say that close to 100 firefighters from six different departments battled the blaze and heavy smoke.

Neighbor Carole Cryer said she noticed firetrucks outside her home and was shocked when she looked out the window.

“At first it was a blaze, an absolute blaze,” she said. “But then pitch-black smoke, pitch black. A huge plume of smoke.”

Officials say everyone living inside the home did get out OK. They say the fire was under control in about 30 minutes.

Bethpage Fire Department Chief Francis DeBobes says the fire was mainly in the rear of the home when they got on the scene.

“We had a fire out the rear of the house, the entire rear of the house, and coming out the front door,” he said.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause, but says no smoke alarms were in the home at the time of the fire.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
