Police: Man pistol-whips neighbor and shoots her dog after being asked to turn down music

A man is facing a number of charges after police say he pistol-whipped his neighbor in the face and shot her dog after she asked him to turn down his music. It happened on July 20 on Elmwood Street. John Lee Mack Jr., 27, was taken into custody after police arrived and found a woman lying next to her dead German Shepherd.The victim told police that she suffers from bad seizures and has problems with noise. According to court documents, the victim told police that the suspect pulled up near his home in his car and was playing loud music. She asked him to turn it down, but instead, he turned it, according to the victim. This went on for a few minutes before the situation eventually escalated. Mack told police he was afraid of the dog attacking him. Mack said the victim was telling the dog to “get him,” and that’s when he went into his home and got his gun, telling police that he was acting in self-defense. Mack is facing charges including aggravated assault, terroristic threats and aggravated cruelty to animals.
