Police intentionally hit 2 aggressive dogs with car, shoot 1 near U.P. playground

MENOMINEE, MI – A police officer was forced to intentionally hit two aggressive dogs with his vehicle in the Upper Peninsula.

According to the Menominee Police Department, the incident occurred near Menominee Elementary School on Feb. 6.

Officers were notified of two pit bulls that were aggressively barking at children near the playground. Others reported the dogs were aggressively charging and chasing them.

Attempts were made to capture the dogs using a dog pole and tasers, but those efforts were unsuccessful, police said.

“As the situation escalated, officers observed the dogs running back toward the school playground,” a statement said. “To prevent an immediate threat to the children, officers struck the dogs with a patrol vehicle and subsequently had to fatally shoot one of them.”

The second dog, a brown and white female pit bull, remains at large and may be injured. Residents are urged to use caution and report any sightings to the Menominee Police Department at (906) 863-5568.

“The safety of the community, especially our children, remains our top priority,” the statement concluded. “We appreciate the cooperation of residents as we work to locate the remaining dog and ensure public safety.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
