Police: Dog misbehaving during bathing time shot by owner

A Daytona Beach man didn’t like how his dog behaved aggressively while he was bathing her so he shot the animal in the face, his arrest report states.

Douglas Matney, 21, was charged with felony animal cruelty. He was out of the Volusia County Branch Jail on $5,000 bail.

Daytona Beach police said they were called on Friday by someone familiar with the incident, who reported that Douglas Matney had shot the 2-year-old black pit bull mix named Zola.

When police arrived at the Nova Road home they made contact with Matney who told them that he shot the dog in the right cheek with a Glock 43X pistol for being aggressive during bathing time on Wednesday.

Police could hear the dog barking as they spoke with Matney.

In the house, police found the 55-pound dog with a bullet wound to the right cheek. The bullet traveled though the dog’s shoulder and appeared to stop in its abdomen.

Matney wrapped the dog in a towel after shooting it and placed the animal in his bedroom and did not get medical attention for the pet.

Police said the dog appeared to have nonfunctional back legs and was uncontrollably urinating on itself.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
