Police confirm Gene Hackman’s two surviving dogs are alive and ‘safe’

In a recent update, details regarding the remaining pets of the late Gene Hackman and his spouse Betsy Arakawa have been disclosed.

Gene, a renowned Oscar winner, was discovered deceased at 95 years old with his wife Betsy Arakawa, aged 64, in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home. Alongside them was tragically one of their cherished dogs; however, two others were found alive on the premises.

A press statement now confirms that the Santa Fe County Animal Control Division is coordinating closely with Hackman’s relatives to “ensure the safety of the two dogs” after the grim find on Wednesday. One of the canines was spotted alive by Arakawa’s body inside the bathroom, and the other was seen roaming freely around the estate – sadly, a third dog was found lifeless in a nearby closet within close proximity, only 10 to 15 feet away from Betsy’s location.

Arakawa was discovered on the bathroom ground with an unsealed container of prescription medication dispersed over a surface, leading to questions about the nature of the pills and to whom they were prescribed, whether Betsy or Gene. The Hollywood legend himself was located in a mudroom adjacent to their kitchen area.

Shocking details have emerged about the discovery of Betsy and her husband, actor Gene. Both were found in a state of advanced decomposition, with facial bloating and mummification of hands and feet. An autopsy was conducted, ruling out external trauma for both, but has yet to determine their cause of death.

In a surprising twist, the local police have eliminated the possibility of foul play and also reported no signs of a gas leak at the scene. Santa Fe Sheriff Aron Mendoza offered a cryptic comment: “We’re not going to guess this was an accident or natural causes. It wasn’t typical.”

Gene and Betsy had a well-known passion for animals, particularly dogs, throughout their marriage since 1991. At one point, they owned two dogs and later, during the filming of The Replacements in Baltimore with Keanu Reeves in 1999, Gene famously adopted another dog who wandered onto the set.

The canines wandered right onto the film location, leading Gene to first bring them to an animal shelter. The shelter then whimsically named the dogs after the film’s stars, Gene and Keanu. Upon reflection, Betsy and Gene decided to welcome the dog named after Gene himself into their home.

Animal Rescue Inc, the shelter where Gene and Betsy found their furry friend, recently celebrated Gene’s special day with a warm shoutout. On Jan. 30 this year, they took to Facebook to share their well-wishes, posting: “Happy 94th birthday to our most famous adopter Gene Hackman!! While filming The Replacements in Baltimore in 1999, two stray dogs wandered onto the movie set. Both dogs were transported to us via limousine and the Hackmans came up the following week and adopted one of them. #adoptdontshop.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
