Play ball! Hadlock Field crews are ready for another Sea Dogs season

The Portland Sea Dogs 2025 season is underway, and the team at Hadlock Field has a lot of fun planned for fans this year.

PORTLAND, Maine — Warmer days are on the horizon, and if you’re dreaming of eating a Sea Dogs biscuit or doing the “YMCA” dance with Slugger, the team at Hadlock Field is ready to play ball.

Chris Cameron, vice president of communications and fan experience, and Emma Tiedemann, the voice of the Sea Dogs, stopped by the 207 Studio to share what’s new at Hadlock Field, which players fans should be watching for this season, and this year’s team rebrand game in August.

“Seeing 7,000 fans on a nightly basis having fun as a result of the efforts that we put in over the offseason—it’s so rewarding, and we can’t wait to welcome all our fans back this season,” Cameron said.

The University of Southern Maine partnered with the park this year to provide parking for $3. Fans can park in the USM parking garage on Bedford Street and walk over to the field, Cameron said it’s a 12-minute walk.

There’s also a new clubhouse for the home team, and the visiting team is moving into the Sea Dog’s old clubhouse.

“That is a requirement from Major League Baseball to meet new MLB standards,” Cameron said. “We had to do this—otherwise we risked losing the team. So, that’s the biggest change of the season.”

Tiedemann will be joined by a new voice over the airwaves: Joey Roberts.

Her former announcing partner, Rylee Pay, moved onto her next gig after spending the past two years with the Portland Sea Dogs.

“I make sure that Joey and I talk a lot outside of the booth just so we kind of know each other as people first and kind of have a friendship and that sort of relationship so it’s not a huge transition whenever we get in the booth and put our headsets.” Tiedemann said.

Jhostynxon “The Password” Garcia is the player to watch this season.

Tiedemann added the Sea Dog’s pitching staff is leading minor league baseball with strikeouts per nine-innings. Standout pitchers include Connelly Early and David Sandlin.

The team hosts different theme nights throughout the year.

On Aug. 2, the team will re-brand, just for the night, as the Maine Candlepins.

“I really love these alternate identities that we do,” Cameron said. “It gives us an opportunity to really showcase and highlight the things that make Maine and New England unique.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
