Pittsfield Police Chief honored for saving postal worker from being mauled by dogs

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – The Pittsfield Police Chief was honored on Tuesday for his heroic actions to save a postal worker that was being attacked by two dogs.

Back in 2021 Chief Thomas Dawley was home off duty when he heard screams for help.

A few houses up he saw a person being attacked by two dogs. Dawley sprung into action running into the scene, pushing the dogs off and getting bit in the process.

Eventually the dogs owners took control of them and Chief Dawley brought newly pregnant postal worker Leah Rowland back to his home where she was treated before being brought to the hospital.

Rowland presented the award to the chief this morning and spoke briefly about that incident stating that if Chief Dawley had not intervened, she believed the results would have been much worse.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
