Pilot and dog die in tragic NY plane crash; 2 dogs survive with injuries

The pilot of a small plane that crashed in a remote area of New York on Sunday evening has been tentatively identified as Seuk Kim, 49, of Springfield, Virginia, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

The plane, a single-engine aircraft, was traveling from Maryland to Albany and was carrying Kim and three dogs, deputies said. Responders, including deputies, forest rangers, and fire department personnel, were on the scene Monday working to extricate the pilot who was found deceased.

One of the dogs was found deceased, while another, a lab mix puppy, survived but suffered two broken legs. The injured puppy was taken by Hyer Ground Rescue to the Capital District Veterinary Hospital. The third was found with minor injuries and is currently receiving care from a veterinarian.

Tributes began pouring in for Kim in an online memorial with fellow dog rescuers thanking him for flying and coordinating pilots across the country.

“From a young age, Seuk dreamed of taking to the skies, and he made that dream a reality by becoming a pilot,” his obituary read. “He found immense joy in flying and used his passion to help others, including his recent work with a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and transporting dogs to safe homes.”

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the crash, with assistance from the New York State Forest Rangers, New York State Police, Greene County Emergency Services, Windham and Hensonville Fire Departments, and the Civil Air Patrol.

The Federal Aviation Administration responded and the investigation is ongoing.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
