AND RIGHT NOW, MILWAUKEE POLICE AND MILWAUKEE ANIMAL CONTROL ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO EMPTY THE ANIMAL SHELTER. 12 NEWS MALLORY ANDERSON REPORTS ON THEIR UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP TO FIND DOGS, NEW HOMES. GOOD GIRL. I SITTING IN A POLICE CRUISER USUALLY MEANS BAD NEWS, BUT FOR ONE YEAR OLD BOXER MIX ARIA, IT COULD BE A FREE RIDE TO HER NEW FOREVER HOME. ARIA HAS BEEN IN MADOC FOR A WEEK, BUT RECENTLY SHE HEADED TO MILWAUKEE POLICE DISTRICT SIX FOR A PHOTO SHOOT. WE THOUGHT IT WAS A SIMPLE THING THAT WE COULD DO TO HELP, SO WE DECIDED TO INVITE THEM OUT, SHOWCASE A DOG EVERY OTHER WEEK, AND WE PUT THEM ON HER ON FACEBOOK AND HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL ADOPT THEM. THE DOG’S PICTURES RANGE FROM GLAMOR TO GOOFY. THEY’RE PRETTY ENTERTAINING. WE’LL TAKE THE DOG AND PUT HIM IN THE SQUAD CAR. AND WHEN IT WAS CHRISTMAS TIME, THEY HAD THE WHOLE CHRISTMAS SET UP. ARIA HERE HAS ONLY BEEN IN THE SHELTER FOR ABOUT A WEEK, BUT A LOT OF THE TIMES THE DOGS THAT MADDOCK TRIES TO FEATURE WITH DISTRICT SIX HAVE BEEN IN THE SHELTER FOR A WHILE. THEY’RE HOPING THEY CAN FIND THEIR FOREVER HOME FASTER. SOME OF THOSE DOGS HAVE BEEN SITTING FOR 2 TO 3 MONTHS, YOU KNOW, IN A KENNEL, AND THEY’RE GOOD DOGS. LIKE, THAT’S THE THING. THEY’RE ALL REALLY, REALLY GOOD DOGS. THE DOGS THAT JUST NEED A CHANCE TO LEAVE THE SHELTER, THAT’S ALMOST ALWAYS FULL. I DON’T LIKE TO SEE THEM, YOU KNOW, CAGED UP. SO IF WE CAN GET THEM OUT, ALLOW THEM TO BE WHO THEY ARE, RUN AROUND AND HAVE A GOOD TIME AND JUST GET TO A LOVING HOME. IT’S JUST IT’S THE BEST. IN MILWAUKEE, MALLORY ANDERSON, WISN 12 NEWS. MADDOX SAYS ALL THE DOGS FEATURED ON DISTRICT SIX’S FACEBOOK PAGE IN THE LAST YEAR HAVE BEEN ADOPTED OR MOVED TO OTHER SHELTERS TO INCREASE THEIR ODDS OF FINDING A FOREVER HOME. But recently, she left the shelter, heading to Milwaukee Police District 6 for a photoshoot.”In the past, we’ve done some community service projects at MADACC, and of course, we utilize them for our stray dogs and lost animals, so through that partnership, we had a conversation in regards to showcasing dogs,” Michael Ward, a community liaison officer for MPD District 6, said. “We thought it was a simple thing that we could do to help. So we decided to invite them out, showcase a dog every other week, and we put him or her on Facebook and hopefully someone will adopt them.”The dogs’ pictures range from glamor shots to goofy shots, sometimes with props added. “They’re pretty entertaining,” Kristin Catalano, the MADACC volunteer who brings the dogs to District 6, said. “We’ll take the dog and put them in the squad car, and when it was Christmas time, they had the whole Christmas set up. The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
