JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.
Here are two of them.
Maggie is a 2-year-old calico cat who is smaller in size at 8 pounds. Maggie was surrendered by her owner that just had too many animals.
She is friendly, enjoys being petted and may be a tad bit timid when first meeting. Maggie would do best in a quiet and patient home.
She does well with other cats and dogs. When Maggie is happy she loves to make biscuits with her paws. She has pretty green eyes that look like she has eyeliner makeup on them.
Mayberry is an 8-year-old American Staffordshire mix that came in as a stray. Mayberry did very well with other dogs and he approaches them very happily.
He pretty much ignored cats in the cat room and will let you take his food bowl. Mayberry loves his stuffed toys and snuggles up with them in his bed.
If you are looking for a mellow, quiet and gentle boy, this is your guy. His adoption fee has been sponsored. A home that is quiet, with no small children or noisy commotion is best for Mayberry.
Dog adoptions require an application, online. A meet-and-greet with a dog also is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.
Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccinations and spay/neutering.
Visiting the shelter is always best, but other adoption resources include online applications at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animals, faxing 517-780-4750 or emailing animalshelter@mijackson.org.
