Pet therapy dogs help North Olmsted residents deal with tragedy

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WOIO) – University Hospitals (UH) and the Cuyahoga County Public Library are helping North Olmsted residents deal with the shocking murder of 3-year-old Julian Wood.

The toddler was stabbed to death in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle on June 3. The little boy was in the front seat of a grocery cart when he was attacked by a stranger.

On Wednesday, a UH Pet Pals coordinator brought therapy dogs to provide emotional support for grieving community members.

The pet pals met with residents for an hour.

A library spokesperson said residents are also able to check-out books on how to deal with grief.

The suspect, Bionca Ellis, of Cleveland, is being held on a $5 million bond at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center and is scheduled to return to court on July 16.
