Penance Jubilee Pool: Hundreds of dogs dive in for annual swim

Hundreds of dogs and their owners went swimming at an iconic outdoor Cornish swimming pool on Sunday for its dog day.

Penzance’s art deco Jubilee Pool ran the event to celebrate the end of its summer season.

The dog day, now in its sixth year, was “super successful”, according to organisers, with wetsuit-wearing dog owners joining their pets in the seawater lido.

Nicola Murdoch, CEO of Jubilee Pool, said the event was a “great finish” to the summer season and “a real highlight of our event calendar and loved by locals and visitors alike”.

The pool will be open two mornings a week during the winter season, on Wednesdays and Fridays, while winter maintenance went ahead, she said.

However, the facility’s geothermal pool would be closed until next Easter, in April 2025, she added.

Mrs Murdoch said: “We are also excited to host full moon events and cold dips on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.

“Our iconic cafe will also remain open.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
