In this day and age, many people’s pets are their family and come with on trips whenever possible. Like our human loved ones, it’s important to keep animals like our dogs safe during car rides. Additionally, keeping your vehicle safe from scratches, hair, and “liquids” is important. To do this, dog car seat covers like the one I tested from Twesync with the help of my Great Pyrenees Stella checks a lot of those boxes. 9to5Toys’ take
As you’ll see in my full video review below, I tested out a hard-bottom, padded car seat cover for dogs from Twesync. Since I am not a dog, I recruited my lovely assistant Stella to help me test it out. Stella seemed to enjoy it, and I have plenty of nice things to say about this cover. However, it may not be for everyone, as I ran into some issues using it in my Rivian SUV. Let’s dig in.
I won’t say much about the unboxing process because it was the simplest I’ve encountered. The package is essentially just the seat cover, so you take it out of the box and its plastic wrapping, and you’re good to go.
I found this cover to be easily foldable and become relatively compact thereafter. It also has a carrying case that zips shut for easy transport or storage in your trunk when you’re not using it.
Setting up the dog car seat cover was almost as easy as unboxing. The kit didn’t come with any instructions, but I’d hope no one would need them, to be honest. You simply unfold the cover across your vehicle’s back seat, then fold each side toward the front and back of the seats on either side. From there, four sets of straps clip around each of the front and rear headrests.
The side panels feature plastic tabs that are supposed to fit in your car’s window well without doing any damage while protecting your vehicle’s interior doors from scratches. However, my truck’s windows wouldn’t allow the tabs in, and there was quite a gap between the door panel and the window.
In my case, I just tucked one of the tabs in beneath the rear seat headrest and let the others hang. It held the side up for protection but could be easily pulled out. That said, this method is not the best solution to ensure your interior is protected and may be a problem for any dogs who like to try and escape.
In the product description, the company states it chose these plastic tabs instead of velcro, which can wear out, but I still would have preferred to see velcro straps in addition to the tabs to ensure the side walls stay up.

On the brighter side, this dog car seat cover is made from 100% waterproof TPU material, which effectively repelled liquid and made for an easy wipe-up with a towel. There’s also a mesh door between the two front seats (see images above) that can be unzipped to allow easier access to your pooch or to give them a little extra freedom to stick their head through and say hello.
I liked the storage compartments positioned behind each front seat. I used them to store Stella’s leash, bone, dog wipes, and some poop bags for our trip in the car. Speaking of trips, I took my dog Stella for a spin to see how she liked the car seat cover. Stella loves car rides, and this cover did an excellent job keeping all that white Great Pyrenees hair off my actual seats.
That being said, I wish Twesync would have provided some sort of mini leash that clasps behind the rear headrest to clip to Stella’s harness so she could be more secure in case of sudden stops or sharp turns.
The cover is described as non-slip, and it is on the bottom against the vehicle seat, but it’s definitely not non-slip for dogs atop the cover. Stella slid around several times during our test drive, and I wasn’t erratic. Again, having a small leash or tether would have been nice to keep her in place more.
Even with the sliding, Stella seemed to enjoy the comfort of this cover’s sponge interior and breathable materials. Getting her out was a breeze, too, but I think that was more so because the side walls didn’t work for me, so I just yanked it out of the way and let her jump out.

Overall, this dog car seat cover from Twesync is simple to unpack, install, and repack. Plus, you can easily take it anywhere, thanks to its carrying case.
The waterproof and scratch-proof surfaces were great, and all the storage was a tremendous perk, but I was disappointed at the flimsiness of the side walls and the fact that I had no practical way to secure them in place.
