Pavo police officer arrested, charged in connection to killing 2 dogs

PAVO, Ga. (WALB) – A Pavo police officer has been arrested and charged in connection to an incident where the officer allegedly shot and killed two dogs while on duty.

WALB has confirmed this information from a Pavo City Clerk that Officer Joshua Fletcher, has been charged with two counts of cruelty to animals and one count of violation of oath of office, and two counts of possession of a firearm during a commission of a crime.

According to District Attorney Brad Shealy, he has bonded out on a $15,000 bond.

Fletcher remains suspended from the Pavo Police Department.

Shealy says if there is sufficient evidence he will prepare to present the charges to a grand jury. The jury will then decide if he will be indicted. Since Fletcher is a law enforcement officer, he will have a chance to testify before the grand jury, if he chooses to.

WALB’s Lenah Allen will speak with the dogs owner and share more details in later newscasts.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
