After winning the NCAA championship one week ago and being chosen as the first draft pick of the WNBA tonight, Paige Bueckers is on fire. But what caught my attention wasn’t just her newly minted status as a player on the Dallas Wings — it was the ludicrously capacious bag she wore on the red carpet.
For too long, tiny bags have reigned supreme at fancy events. But really, what purpose do they serve? What can they even carry? Your ID? A single lip gloss? It’s nice to see someone as influential as Bueckers finally stand up to the little-bag madness and embrace a practical, colossal clutch instead. I, for one, am ecstatic.

The athlete wore a large kisslock bag in black from Coach, the official handbag partner of the WNBA. Priced at $695, it comes with a single shoulder strap, but Bueckers styled it as a clutch instead. Due to its size, I thought Bueckers might be hiding a basketball in there, but sadly I was mistaken. While the chic sack is over a foot long, the enormous bag isn’t actually enormous enough to hold a ball, according to its dimensions. Bummer. Maybe Coach can make Bueckers a special, even-larger edition she can wear to her first game as a WNBA player. Just a thought!
Besides Bueckers, Coach dressed players Hailey Van Lith, Aneesah Morrow, Sonia Citron, and Kiki Iriafen, but none of them were wearing the same beautiful monstrosity that she was. Although it’s currently sold out, the bag, Coach says, will be restocked in July — if you’re dying to get your hands on the massive accessory and join the anti-tiny-bag agenda, I’d advise you to mark your calendar.
