Pacifica native Patrick Sangimino debuts first novel: ‘Dogs Chase Cars’

For Patrick Sangimino, journalism wasn’t just a job—it was a calling, one that began on the foggy streets of Pacifica and eventually led him through National Football League locker rooms, city council meetings and long-form feature writing. His debut novel, “Dogs Chase Cars,” captures that journey—and the uncertain ground on which journalism now stands.

“Dogs Chase Cars” is out now.

“I came up with the idea about seven or eight years ago,” Sangimino said. “Really great journalists, some of the best writers I knew, were losing their jobs. I remember thinking, if it can happen to them, is any of us safe? That’s when the seed was planted.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
