Ownership of dogs involved in local dog fighting ring expected to be transferred to the county

The dogs were previously owned by brothers allegedly involved in dog fighting ring.

TYLER, Texas — The 60 dogs involved in a Smith County dog fighting ring are expected to be awarded to the county Thursday evening after the previous owners agreed to divest ownership.

The dogs were previously owned by brothers Kerry and Michael Jones, who are still facing a criminal case after allegedly hosting a dog fighting ring. Because of the mutual agreement between the Jones’ and the county to transfer ownership, there was no public hearing for the matter.

The county is currently awaiting the signature of Smith County Judge Derrick Choice to make the transfer of ownership official.

CBS19 will update this story as more information becomes available.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
