A dog owner has impressed social media users with a hack that gets his pooches off his bed.
Dave Dolphin (@davedolphinok) showcased his trick on TikTok, where it garnered more than 355,000 views and 19,000 likes.
“So here’s a pro tip: Right before you go to bed, walk out of your front door to your front porch and ring your doorbell. That will get your dogs off your bed just long enough that you can crawl in and get comfortable,” Dolphin said in the video.
As soon as he rings the buzzer, a cacophony of barks breaks out from somewhere inside the house.
Newsweek has contacted @davedolphinok for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.
How to Get Your Dog to Stop Sleeping in Your Bed?
Besides Dolphin’s doorbell hack, there are other ways to get your dog to stop sleeping in your bed.
According to a wikiHow article, the first step is to designate a separate sleeping area for your dog, such as a comfortable bed or crate. It’s important to make the new space inviting using soft bedding and toys.
Gradually encourage your dog to use the new space by offering positive reinforcement, such as treats or praise, when they settle there.
Avoid allowing your dog back on your bed after they’ve been trained, and gently redirect them if they attempt to jump up. The process requires patience, but with consistent effort, your dog should begin to see their designated spot as the place to sleep.

Should Your Dog Sleep in Your Bed?
According to PetMD, allowing your dog to sleep in your bed can provide comfort and security for both you and your pet.
It can enhance the bond between you, and some owners report feeling more relaxed with their dogs nearby. However, it’s important to consider potential downsides.
Dogs can be disruptive during sleep, with movements or snoring that may affect your quality of rest. Additionally, allowing your dog to sleep in your bed might encourage undesirable behaviors, such as possessiveness or difficulty transitioning to other sleeping arrangements.
Ultimately, it depends on the individual dog and owner, so weighing the pros and cons can help you make the best decision for your situation.

TikTokers have commented on Dolphin’s video to praise his tip and share their own.
“You sir just won the internet,” one viewer wrote.
“You don’t even have to walk outside,” another added. “Just test the Ring on your phone and it will make them do the same thing.”
“Wont work in my house, I have two 75lb bullies who refuse to jump up so I gotta pick them up. Also have a 50lb pocketbully who can’t jump up so I gotta pick her up,” a commenter wrote.
“Cracking idea! unfortunately it’d make mine go mental and they’d growl at every little noise all night,” a user commented.
Another said: “Genius! I watch my 2 60lb grandpups who run to the bed when they see I’m setting the coffee only to leave me a sliver of the mattress.”
