Owner sends dog to first day at daycare—unprepared for update 2 hours later

Dropping your canine off for doggy daycare can go one of two ways: they love it and forget about you, or they think about you every second until you return. One owner quickly learned her dog fell into the second group.

The owner shared in an August 24 TikTok video (@dollygirlstaffymix) that they believed Dolly the Staffordshire mix would have “the best time ever” at doggy daycare as many dogs love it for the playtime and socialization. But the owner learned this wasn’t the dog’s cup of tea within two hours of dropping Dolly off.

The doggy daycare called the owner to tell her it was time to pick Dolly up. The entire two hours Dolly was at the daycare, she felt anxious. The employees even snapped a photo. Dolly sported the biggest frown, with her ears pinned back. Her face said it all: get me out of here.

In the comment section, the owner explained that she believes Dolly “just panicked” from being kept inside. Dolly was rescued from a shelter where she would usually be outside. The doggy daycare was indoors, which the owner thinks caused Dolly stress.

Hopeful that a second trip would get her used to doggy daycare, the owner tried again. However, the video updating viewers revealed it didn’t go any better. They sent Dolly home again.

The photos shared in the follow-up video again show Dolly rocking a frown. She was cuddling up with another dog, but by the look on her face, she wasn’t enjoying her time.

Doggy daycares can be overwhelming for canines. Although they can be a great option to socialize and exercise canines, they can also cause anxiety and stress, especially for introverted pups, an article from Rover says. Plus, sending your dog to daycare can potentially expose them to illnesses, bad behavioral habits or fights.

As of Monday, the video had amassed over 973,900 views and 223,800 likes on TikTok. Viewers immediately absorbed Dolly’s pain of being left at doggy daycare and demanded justice.

“MAMA PLEASE. He really called home on his first sleepover…. mood,” said one person.

Another added: “STOPPPPP u better give her all the kisses and treats.”

A third TikTok user commented: “I think she was excited as well and got disappointed.”
