A dog owner who made the mistake of checking the pet cam footage to see what her puppy was doing has left internet users in hysterics with what she saw.
In a now viral TikTok video, user Blaire Lynch (@blairelynch1) revealed the hilarious antics she caught her golden retriever puppy doing while alone. Lynch was keen to check in on the pup, named Gunnar, while he was at home to be sure he wasn’t misbehaving—but that didn’t go to plan.
Indeed, the pet cam footage shows the dog lounging on the sofa “eating a whole bag of bread.” While it certainly wasn’t what his owner was hoping to see, Gunnar appeared to be having the absolute time of his life.
Since the amusing footage was posted on TikTok on April 18, it has gone viral with more than 970,300 views and over 87,900 likes at the time of writing.
Newsweek has contacted Lynch via Facebook for comment.
To make matters worse, after catching her mischievous pup helping himself to the bread, Lynch realized there was nothing she could do to stop him either.
Alongside the video, the TikTok caption jokes: “He’s fine I promise, but this is the last time he’s being left unattended for his whole life.”
While Gunnar didn’t exactly pick the healthiest snack in the kitchen, thankfully he didn’t pick the worst either. That’s because dogs can safely eat bread in moderation, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).
The AKC suggest that plain white and wheat bread are safe for dogs, as long as they don’t have any allergies. Usually, these types of bread won’t cause an upset stomach for greedy pups.
However, it’s important that dogs don’t overindulge in bread—much like humans. It should only be fed as a treat and provided that they also get a balanced diet and plenty of exercise.

The AKC explains that bread is a filler food that doesn’t contain any nutrients that aren’t already in their regular dog food.
It’s also vital to be on the lookout for bread with toxic ingredients, such as nuts, seeds, xylitol, and raisins. These ingredients aren’t safe for dogs and should be avoided.
The TikTok Reaction
After the pet cam footage went viral online, TikTok users have lauded Gunnar’s hilarious antics. In just a matter of days, the clip has amassed over 940 comments on TikTok already.
One comment reads: “Imagine living in a house where you are not free to eat the food? How about a little privacy maybe he doesn’t want to be shamed online for being hungry.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “Literally ate and left no crumbs.”
Another person joked: “The level of *casual* in his posture is killing me.”
While one commenter added: “Loving that he’s taking his time & eating each piece individually. How polite!”
