The Miami County Animal Shelter (MCAS) and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of animal neglect in Pleasant Hill on New Year’s Eve. When a search warrant was executed at the residence, investigators found dozens of dogs living in “deplorable conditions.”
TRENDING STORIES:
The dogs were found at the home of a person previously known as a breeder, according to MCAS.
A total of 102 Shih Tzus, including nine litters of puppies, were seized. They’re now receiving proper care.
This has nearly quadrupled the number of dogs at the shelter. Due to that, MCAS is asking for the public’s help with supplies, donations, and fosters for nursing mothers and puppies.
Lists of the food and supplies needed can be found here.
Anyone interested in fostering is asked to complete an online application here.
Monetary contributions and other donations can be mailed or delivered in person to MCAS at 1110 N. County Road 25A in Troy during regular business hours.
