One person hospitalized, three dogs dead after structure fire in Temple, Texas

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) – One person was hospitalized, and three dogs are dead following a structure fire in Temple Wednesday afternoon.

On May 7, at 4:23 p.m., Temple Fire and Rescue say units responded to reports of a structure fire in the 3000 block of Hickory Road.

First responders, according to authorities, found a single-story home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the front and back of the building.

Crews found one occupant of the home and three dogs inside a back bedroom who were removed from the structure, according to authorities.

Authorities say the occupant was taken to the ER with life-threatening injuries and the three dogs all died due to their injuries.

No additional injuries were reported form the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and being investigated by the Temple Fire Marshals Office, according to authorities.
