TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — The family of a man killed in a semi-truck rollover crash on Interstate 80 Wednesday night are now asking for the public’s help locating two dogs that ran away from the scene.
Officials say Wednesday at 9:58 p.m. a blue semi-truck, driven by 43-year-old Ruben N. Sepulveda, was pulling a box trailer eastbound on I-80 through mile marker 78 when it rolled over on its side in the median. The semi was the only vehicle involved.
Ruben Sepulveda sustained fatal injuries and a female passenger in the truck was transported by ground to the hospital in serious condition.
Officials note there were high winds in the area at the time and the winds might have blown the vehicle over.
The left lane was closed for several hours during the investigation.
Utah Highway Patrol officials tell FOX 13 News that two dogs were at the scene of the crash but ran away when first responders tried to catch them. The dogs were a German shepherd and a chihuahua.
Family members of Sepulveda reached out to FOX 13 News to spread the word about their search for the dogs. They say the animals were like children to him and they hope to find them.
