On alert: Authorities seek pack of wild dogs terrorizing pets in Scotland Neck

The Scotland Neck Police Department is warning people about a pack of dogs that has been on the loose and terrorizing people and pets in town for several weeks.

Police Chief Tommy Parker said the department has been working for weeks to track the wild dogs and find humane ways to deal with them.

He said there have been multiple incidents where pets have been injured or killed due to these dogs. The dogs typically travel in groups of three to five.

“We set up traps to catch them safely, but they keep getting triggered by someone or something,” Parker said.

On Monday afternoon, the pack’s “leader” was captured, officials said. WRAL News was there as the dog was loaded into a crate.

Parker urges people not to feed the dogs and to alert animal control immediately if they see them.

Halifax County Animal Control was searching for the dogs in Scotland Neck on Monday, with animal tranquilizers ready if needed.

“I am hoping that today the animal control officers will successfully capture these dogs,” Parker said.

Those who see the dogs should contact 252-583-6651 or 252-583-1991 to report the dogs’ location.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
