The HCSO says the dogs’ owner was arrested on two counts of animal cruelty, three counts of cruelty to non-livestock animal/torture with two previous convictions.
HOUSTON COUNTY, Texas — One person was arrested after animals were reportedly found in deplorable conditions.
According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, Feb, 28, deputies responded to home to investigate possible animal cruelty.
When officials arrived on scene, they say they saw “obvious signs of abuse and cruelty” and obtained a warrant to search the whole property.
“In one room of the residence, it appeared that puppies were allowed to fend for themselves,” the HCSO said. “There were numerous skeletal parts where it appeared that more robust dogs had eaten those that had died. It was a horrible situation and the surviving puppies were removed and are receiving treatment.”
