Officials: 19 pets rescued, 4 dogs found dead at Johnstown woman’s home

Authorities in Cambria County say a local woman is facing dozens of animal cruelty-related charges after 19 pets were rescued from her home, and an additional four animals were found dead.

Investigators say they were called last month to 37-year-old Kelly Huff’s Chandler Avenue home following multiple complaints of animal abuse and neglect.

Officials with the Humane Society of Cambria County say detectives found seven dogs, six cats and two reptiles that were reportedly living in deplorable conditions.

Authorities say four dogs were also found dead inside the residence.

Investigators say none of the animals had access to proper food and water, and the home was littered with urine and feces.

After the initial visit to the home, authorities say an additional four dogs, that had allegedly been neglected and abused, were surrendered.

Authorities say all 19 pets are now under the care of the Humane Society.

Investigators note that some of the animals showed signs of being intentionally mistreated as they were “concerningly skinny” and had suffered various open wounds.

According to online court records, Huff was arraigned Monday on multiple counts each of felony aggravated cruelty to animals and animal neglect.

She is jailed at the Cambria County Prison on $350,000 bail.
