Dreaming Dogs Doc Trailer

“Stay here with me. I’ll always protect you.” šŸ• An official trailer is ready for an indie documentary film called Dreaming Dogs, another new doggie doc to enjoy. This is playing at the 2024 Vienna Film Festival in Venice this week, which is why the trailer is debuting now. It’s directed by the Austrian filmmaker Elsa Kremser, along with the German filmmaker Levin Peter, as their follow-up to their 2019 doc Space Dogs which is also about Russian doggos. A pack of strays – seven dogs and one woman, are straying in constant restlessness through a savage landscape where the city of Moscow is cracking. They explain: “In Space Dogs, we confronted the untamed life of dogs on the street with the human abuse of them for space exploration… Dreaming Dogs is all about the interdependence of these two species. What does it mean when dogs and humans become so close that life without each other seems impossible?” An intriguing question though it seems this film is made-up of leftover footage they shot while making the first film. If you love dogs or want to examine their connection with humans, keep an eye out for this doc film whenever it shows near you. šŸ¶

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Kremser & Peter’s doc Dreaming Dogs, direct from YouTube:

A pack of strays ā€“ seven dogs and one woman, live in the shadows of the city of Moscow. Hidden from the totalitarian authorities, two species share their existence on the verge of disappearance. They are straying in constant restlessness through a savage landscape where the city is cracking. Shot from the animalā€™s point of view, patterns of mutual dependence and taming begin to blur. Dreaming Dogs is co-directed by the two filmmakers Elsa Kremser (Austrian filmmaker, also writer of A Promise) & Levin Peter (German filmmaker, director of the films A Promise, Beyond the Snowstorm), making their second doc together after directing Space Dogs (2019). It’s also produced by Elsa Kremser & Levin Peter. This initially premiered at the 2024 Jeonju Film Festival earlier this year, with a stop at the 2024 Viennale Film Festival in Venice this fall (more info here). No official release dates are set for this yet – stay tuned for updates. Who’s interested?

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
