Off-duty officer shoots, kills two dogs after they allegedly attack his K9 in backyard

SAN ANTONIO – Two dogs were fatally shot by an off-duty police officer after they attacked his assigned K9 on the city’s Northwest side.

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. near Lands Point Street and Hill Trails Street.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, an off-duty officer assigned K9 dog was in the backyard when the neighbor’s three dog broke through the fence and started attacking the K9.

Police say, the off-duty officer and his wife came out to try and separate the dogs. The couple was unable to separate them and that’s when the off-duty officer shot multiple times.

Two of the three neighbors dogs were dead at the scene. The off-duty officer took his K9 to the emergency vet for treatment, according to SAPD.

There is no criminal charges at this time.
