OPD responded to the call and arrived at the residency at approximately 3:39 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers encountered three unrestrained pit bulls acting aggressively and appearing to pose an immediate threat, according to a report.

As the officers on scene were awaiting the arrival of Marion County Animal Control, the officers noticed a nearby jogger approaching and warned him to stay way.

The dogs then turned their attention to the officers and charged at them, forcing them to use deadly force as all three were neutralized on the scene.
