Boston’s Seaport district is switching things up this election season by giving people a chance to vote for the neighborhood’s first-ever dog mayor.
Five dogs that have been nominated by the public are vying for the title of Dog Mayor of Seaport in Seaport’s inaugural Bark The Vote.
Voters can start casting ballots in the Pooch Primaries starting Tuesday, Oct. 15. The winner will be announced on Friday, Nov. 1.
You can find a list of the canine candidates below:
- Aspen: A 5-year-old adventure-loving Doodle who starts every day with meditation by the water.
- Bennett: An 8.5-month-old Golden Retriever, a self-proclaimed “couch potato king” with a love for greeting everyone on the Harborwalk.
- Lady: An 18-month-old Goldendoodle whose gentle heart and snow-zoomies make her a Seaport sweetheart.
- Macie: A 1-year-old Golden Retriever with a penchant for holding her own leash and “talking” to new friends.
- Rhubarb (Rhu): A 2-year-old Maltipoo known for her “BDE” (Big Dog Energy) and signature “party paws” dance.
The winning pooch will be honored with an official portrait that will be hung at Sea Green Park during the “in-dog-uration” in March 2025.
The dog mayor will also get to skip the line at Cisco Brewers and at Seaport’s Holiday Market (Snowport). The political pooch will get to sleep in a new Blu Dot Velvet Signal dog bed and get weekly “pooch-ini” treats from Shake Shack in Seaport.
The mayor will also be pampered with Aesop Animal Shampoo every 12 weeks, with 10% off services at Bond Vet and 15% off at Polkadog Bakery throughout their term.
You can cast your votes online once the Pooch Primaries open on Oct. 15.
