North Alabama woman facing animal cruelty charges after authorities seize 82 dogs

A north Alabama woman was arrested on 82 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after 82 dogs were seized from her in Florence, authorities said.

Tresea Gaye Counce, 71, was arrested Tuesday on 82 counts of cruelty to animals, said Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton.

Counce was released from the county jail after posting $41,000 bond.

Hamilton released few details about the case, only saying that sheriff’s office investigation “found probable cause that animal cruelty had occurred.”

Florence Lauderdale Animal Services, a local shelter, posted on its Facebook page Jan. 28 that it took in 82 dogs following an animal cruelty investigation.

Efforts to reach the shelter were not immediately successful.

Counce’s case was not yet listed in online state court records as of Tuesday night.

Sheriff’s deputies who responded to a home on Lauderdale County Road 6 in Florence found more than 80 dogs, with several dogs to a cage, according to WHNT.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
