Nonprofit urges community to house 60 dogs ahead of storm

ATLANTA — As Hurricane Helene approaches, 60 dogs housed at Fulton County’s old animal shelter are in need of emergency homes.

The old shelter, located at 860 Marietta Blvd., was built in the ’70s and has a history of flooding during large storms, according to a Facebook post by Fulton County Animal Services, whose shelter and field services operations are managed by Atlanta nonprofit LifeLine Animal Project.

“We urgently need to find homes for all dogs who are temporarily living at this shelter,” the post says. “They were moved here due to the severe overcrowding at the new shelter, but they can’t stay here.”

The shelter will be open until 7 p.m. today, Sept. 25, and tomorrow, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for temporary fosters and adoptions.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
