NASHVILLE, Tenn.–The Animal Rescue Corps (ARC) announced on Tuesday the rescue of 23 dogs, including young puppies, from a trailer in Cumberland County.
ARC is a national nonprofit dedicated to protecting animals for communities which may not have the resources needed to provide emergency rescue, shelter, or relief. According to the nonprofit, the organization found 23 dogs, including puppies only weeks old, in “severely neglectful conditions.”
ARC says the dogs are small, mixed-breed which were running loose on “urine-soaked, feces-covered floors and broken furniture with make shift fencing inside the trailer.” The youngest puppies are only five weeks old and were covered in feces.
The organization adds due to their living conditions, the dogs were suffering from internal and external parasites. It is believed the issue is due to “neglectful breeding” in a confined space. ARC says this is the third time in eight days the organization has had to deploy to Tennessee. The dogs are currently in Gallatin at the ARC Rescue Center where they will receive care and treatments before they are then matched with a shelter to find them forever homes. If you are interested, ARC will post details on their Facebook page once transferred to shelters.
