Noah Project takes in pets displaced after hurricanes, looking for foster homes

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Noah Project in Muskegon is taking in dogs affected by both Hurricane Helene and Milton.

Tuesday, eight dogs from Tennessee arrived in Michigan, looking for foster homes to take them in. Noah Project said the foster homes are essential since they and many other area shelters are already at or near capacity.

The shelter said several of them have medical conditions and one has a possible broken leg.

Noah Project’s Executive Director Mishele Arndt said the dogs are not flood victims, but are animals that would have been euthanized to make room for animals that came from flooded areas.

The dogs will be going to foster homes and the shelter said they’ve had a lot of support from the community.

“So we’ve had some amazing people step forward, mostly people who have adopted from us before,” said Arndt. “Those people have stepped up to come in and foster all the new dogs coming in. It’s been an overwhelming response.”

Noah Project plans to take in more dogs and cats as the need for shelters increases following the hurricanes.

If you’re interested in helping, they said you can donate items like pet food, blankets and more.

You can also sign up to foster a dog or cat. For more information on how you can help, you can visit the Noah Project website here.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
