Newfoundland Dog’s Walk to the Beat of a Popular Song Is Cracking People Up

If there’s one thing that most dogs like, it’s getting to go on a walk. My dog is almost a year old, and she knows if I get out her prong collar and put on my tennis shoes we’re going for a walk, and she gets so excited! Milky is a Newfoundland year-old puppy who also enjoys going on strolls with mom and dad. They shared a video of Milky walking at the end of September, and it will crack you up!

The video is short – it’s only about 10 seconds long – and was recorded by someone walking behind the Newfie. It shows Milky’s bum swaying back and forth as he walks. What’s funny about it though is the song that his humans set the video to, I Like to Move It, from the children’s movie Madagascar. Make sure your sound is on!

It’s like Milky was walking to the beat of the song on purpose! I wish it was longer because I’ve watched the video at least five times because it’s so funny! Commenters enjoyed it too and left nearly a thousand comments. @Aussie Beach Babes shared, “I love when dogs have attitude when they walk!” @trevoleen laughed, “When I tell you the smile this brought me! Haha!!! Who would have thought!” @Victoria requested, “Please do the geese/waddle song from The Aristocats!” and they did! You can check it out on the Newfie’s TikTok page.

Things To Know Before Getting a Newfoundland

Newfoundlands are huge dogs, as you can see just by watching Milky’s videos. Males can stand up to 28 inches tall and weigh between 130 and 150 pounds, but some can weigh up to 200 pounds or more. Females stand up to 26 tall and weigh between 100 and 120 pounds. While they are quite big, the AKC Standard uses this description for them, “Sweetness of temperament is the hallmark of the Newfoundland.” These gentle giants are known for their patient temperaments and patience with children as well.

Newfies love to play in water and would stay in it all day if you’d let them. They also enjoy long walks and require 30 to 60 minutes of exercise each day. They like to stay busy and play, and even though they don’t look like they’d enjoy exercise, they need a lot of it.

Newfoundlands have a ton of fur, and they do shed a lot. They require regular brushing and you’ll be vacuuming hair all day, every day. They also pant and drool. Their large jowls and loose lips allow for saliva to fill up and spill over. They drink a lot of water and enjoy putting their entire head into their water bucket. In short, they’re big, messy dogs!

As with any pet, make sure you do your research before bringing them home to ensure that your family and the dog are a good match. Learn about their temperaments and what’s good and bad about them so you can determine if they’ll match your family’s lifestyle.
