ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) – A new program allows volunteers to rent shelter dogs for 48 hours.
An innovative program in Alaska is giving dog lovers the chance to foster a dog for just 48 hours. The organization, Tails on Trails, allows volunteers to take a dog home for a short period, providing numerous benefits for both the animals and the participants.
The program offers dogs a much-needed break from the shelter environment and increases their exposure to potential adopters when they are taken out into the community.
The initiative also plays on the concept of a “foster fail,” where temporary caregivers fall in love with their furry guests and decide to adopt them permanently.
For those interested in this unique fostering opportunity, Tails on Trails suggests checking for similar programs in their local area.
