Management at a Forsyth mobile home park aims to revitalize the property and enhance safety after a disturbing discovery.
FORSYTH, Ga. — A month after a disturbing discovery at Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park in Forsyth, management is stepping in to revitalize the property and improve safety for its residents.
The property has been rebranded as The Cottages at Oak Grove.
The unsettling find involved eight dead dogs discovered by resident Shannon Kirkpatrick near her mobile home. Despite initial efforts to remove the bodies, the dogs’ remains remained in place for weeks.
“The landlord is finding somebody to clean them up. I think they’re having somebody come out and bury them,” Kirkpatrick said.
The discovery came after neighbors Stephen Jones and Lisa Murray were evicted from the park for violating the terms of their lease by keeping too many animals. Sales manager Ryan Cerrone of Prime Point Ventures said he gave the couple several months to comply with the rules before taking action.
“Ultimately, they just violated the lease agreement that they had with our company, and that’s when we had to move forward. Really, for the quality of living for our residents that are here and for new residents that are going to be coming in here,” Cerrone said.
Cerrone, speaking on behalf of the new owners, said they are focused on building a safer, more welcoming community.
“Now we’re focused on moving forward and really building a good space for the community. We’re really looking to do this as a community outreach,” he said.
So far, several mobile homes have been demolished and replaced, and trash left behind by the previous tenants has been cleared.
“Our goal is to really revitalize and bring this area, or bring this property, up to the standards of Monroe County,” Cerrone added.
Neighbors are hopeful the changes will bring a much-needed transformation to the park, turning it into a safer, cleaner place to live.
