New Orleans man whose dogs killed an elderly neighbor arrested on homicide charge

New Orleans police have charged a man whose dogs broke through a wooden fence and attacked an 81-year-old woman on March 20, killing her, with negligent homicide.

Chad Bridges, 36, turned himself in Friday morning, jail records show.

According to an affidavit for his arrest warrant, Bridges’ three dogs pushed through a loose piece of plywood nailed to a wood fence separating his Little Woods’ home from his elderly neighbor’s driveway, then bit the woman repeatedly.

She was found near the recycling bin in her driveway in the 10200 block of Brookfield Drive and transported to a hospital, where she later died.

A detective investigating her death called the bites “brutal and savage” in the affidavit.

The SPCA took the three animals, described in the affidavit as “pit bull-type dogs,” and cited Bridges with municipal offenses.

One of the dogs had broken free at least once before, a neighbor told a police detective investigating the woman’s death. In that incident last fall, the dog bit the victim’s 15-year-old daughter in the ankle, according to the affidavit.

Negligent homicide is a felony. If convicted as charged, Bridges would face up to 10 years in prison.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
