PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Saturday morning, pups of all ages, shapes, and sizes came out to Oaks by the Bay Park for Salty Dog Day 2025.
For $1 dollar, anyone could vote on who they wanted to be their four-legged mayor. A Vice Mayor, and City Commissioner were also elected.
“The mayor is really responsible for being the K9 ambassador for St. Andrews,” said Alice DeWall, the Salty Dog Day Chair for the St. Andrews Waterfront Partnership. “We now have three elected Official K-9 officials in St. Andrews, and really, what they’ll do is just share those duties.”
The 2025 Mayor is known as “Ginger.”
“Gingers just a good dog, and that’s why I think she won,” said Ginger’s owner, Mariane Andrew. “They are all good dogs, and we are happy to be a part of the team.”
The proceeds earned from the event benefit the St. Andrews Waterfront Partnership, and Operation Spay Bay.

The celebration had plenty of vendors and dog-friendly activities but was ultimately to show love to man’s best friend.
“I think it’s really nice to watch the community come together for the love of animals,” said DeWall. “This is the day to show off your dog.”
